Now its official — UVA Rector Bill Goodwin declined to be reappointed to the UVA Board of Visitors, instead leaving his spot alongside two others to be replaced by Democratic Governor Terry McAuliffe:
McAuliffe also declined to renew the terms of two other appointees of former Gov. Bob McDonnell: Kevin J. Fay, of McLean, and Frank E. Genovese, of Midlothian. Griffin is the only McDonnell appointee to have his term renewed by McAuliffe.
In addition to Hardie, co-chairman and CEO of H7 Holdings LLC, the new appointees are Robert M. Blue, of Richmond, president and CEO of Dominion Energy’s Power Delivery Group; and Maurice Jones of New York City, president and CEO of Local Initiatives Support Corp.
All of the appointees are politically connected and have experience in both the public and private sectors.
Hardie, an investment banker, served a stint on UVa’s Board of Visitors from 2008 to 2012. He is a longtime donor to Democratic Party candidates and gave $125,000 to McAuliffe during his gubernatorial bid.
Goodwin was first appointed to the BOV by then-Governor George Allen in 1996.
