This morning, former Stewart confederate and all around good guy Ali Ahmad threw in his two cents regarding his former boss’ use of the term “cuckservative” — a known racialist slur — via Facebook:
I’m truly heartbroken about something that happened in Virginia politics last night. I do not want to explicitly reference it here, though it’ll be easy to find it if you haven’t already heard. I’ve said my peace to the person involved directly by email.
. . .
This morning I woke up to read news that someone I have true personal affection for, and a leader whom I have supported and whose record of accomplishment in office I truly respect, use a variation of the term: “cuckservative.” The term is explicitly racist, and just plain gross.
For those unfamiliar, it was coined and popularized by white nationalists groups, including those referred to as the “alt-right,” alluding to the classical definition of being a cuckold, a man whose wife becomes pregnant by another man and therefore whose bloodline is now impure. The idea is that immigration from nonwhite, non-European, and, sometimes, non-majority Christian countries is polluting the American “race” and that the “cuckservatives” are letting it happen. Note, I say “sometimes” the term refers to religious affiliation because, often, “alt-right” white nationalists are atheists. Go figure.
Read it all — and a very courageous (and loyal) thing to do, Mr. Ahmad. In fact, the toughest form of loyalty is to remind folks who they are — not what circumstances make them out to be, but to lift them out of the haze and remind them they are better.
That takes guts.
Meanwhile, the Republican Party of Virginia State Central Committee is in a flurry of activity this morning, as efforts to set the guidelines of how to pry Stewart out of consideration for the GOP nod are in full swing.
Pressure is equally building on RPV to come out with a strong and unequivocal statement condemning Stewart’s racialist language.
This morning, Facebook appears to be on fire with shock and dismay, with the Virginia blogosphere making their concerns known. In like turn, the alt-right in Virginia is doing everything they can to rally to Stewart’s defense…
